Our 1st food rescue took place today! 🚚🍌🥬🍓Thanks to Classic Sports Catering from The Honda Classic for donating their surplus food, keeping it out of landfills, and helping to feed local food insecure neighbors. Their donation, filled with fresh fruits, cheeses, meats and more was dropped off at The Lord's Place, a local nonprofit that helps break the cycle of homelessness.
We’re excited to be starting our new food rescue volunteer program in Palm Beach County, by becoming the site location leaders for a nation-wide food rescue effort, Food Rescue US. To date, the Food Rescue US app has lead to over 36 million fresh and healthy meals being rescued from local events, venues, restaurants, and grocers, and we’re excited to be expanding the reach into Palm Beach County.
If you’re interested in lending a helping hand by becoming a food rescue volunteer, food donor, or a receiving agency send us a DM, or email us at info@volunteersofthepalmbeaches.com. We’d love to have you help fill plates, not landfills. Typical food rescue volunteer runs take only about 30 minutes. ❤️
